Image quality in cone beam computed tomography - What you get is what you deserve The technical, physical and mathematical principles of cone-beam computed-tomography will be explained briefly as well as image reconstruction and setting parameters for the diagnosis in endodontology and dental traumatology. Particular attention is paid to the artifacts related to this technology and strategies how to reduce their negative influence on the imaging process. Furthermore justifications and obligations in the use of CBCT and aspects of radiation exposure will be summarized. Case selective reconstruction modes, imaging modalities and potential applications are shown. Various scans and viewer softwares are presented to a comparative assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of several devices.
